The goal of this project is to generate new knowledge to guide the City of Toronto as to how air quality can be more fully incorporated into the coordination of large construction hubs.

Research Objectives

  1. Capture the contribution of The Yonge and Eglinton construction hub to local air quality
  2. Understand the impact of different construction activities and machinery on air emissions and air quality near this site
  3. Engage with the local community and assess exposure of residents at and in representative homes that at potentially being impacted by the activities at this site
  4. Assess the background concentrations of air pollutants at other the East Habour, Lakeshore and Downtown Construction Hubs prior to the launch of construction activities
  5. Interpret the research findings to propose future air quality monitoring and potential mitigation strategies
